Snow White: Cast and synopsis Act 1. Scene 1: Wicked witch Queen Wormelda frightens away the villagers from their dancing. Scene 2: Billy Biggle’s voice calls out from where she had magicked him into a bottle. Her husband King Woodynut makes her release Billy. He overhears her plan to kidnap the orphan baby Prince of the next Kingdom, and rushes to save the baby Prince. Scene 3: Tiggles the tiger tells Billy to hide him with his circus friends. Tiggles says he’ll help, as he’s finished his Oxford degree in the Law of the Jungle. The Queen claims the throne and imprisons the King with a spell inside a mirror. She asks: “Looking-glass, Looking-glass, on the wall - Who in this land is the fairest of all?” Baby Princess Snow White is brought on by nurse Desiree Lallybody. There is a comic routine between the nurse and the King in the mirror. Billy and Tiggles recruit everyone to help protect Snow White. Scene 4: Billy sings about his life as an actor. Tiggles about his plans to return to the jungle. Scene 5: Snow White is sad on her eighteenth birthday because the Queen is unkind. The nurse sings about her wild youth. Billy and Tiggles bring grown up Prince Boldligo, in his red nose circus clown disguise. Snow White learns the Prince’s secret identity and they sing a love song. The villagers celebrate and the Queen angrily rushes in. The mirror tells her that Snow White is now the fairest in the land. She rushes off to find some simpletons to kidnap Snow White. Scene 6: Velda Vixen, Silas Sly and their friends enter and end fighting each other in a tangle on the floor. The Queen spells them into becoming her robber gang. Scene 7: The Prince, Billy and Tiggles rescue Snow White from the robbers and leave her in the cottage of the eight little people. Scene 8: The robbers pretend to the Queen that they carried out her wishes and they sing a song of triumph. Scene 9: The eight little people tell Snow White that they work in the money mines in the city markets. Their names are Dow, Footsie, Nikkei, Nasdaq, Hang Seng, Dot Com and Bond (Euro Bond). The eighth is Inflation. Snow White falls asleep and dreams that the Queen has found her. The villagers cheer her up with a song and dance. Act 2. Scene 10: The Queen tricks Snow White into eating a poisoned apple and the robbers imprison her in the castle. Scene 11: Allyoop the circus ringmaster and Pepe Mint agree to put on a show to entice the Queen out of her castle. Scene 12: A comic circus scene with clowns, acrobats, strong man, tightrope walker and “Billy Biggles the fearless tiger tamer,” etc. The Queen arrives to stop the show and the conspirators tiptoe out. Scene 13: The King in the mirror opens the castle door for the rescuers. Snow White is saved and the Queen is banished forever. Running time, excluding interval, 90 minutes. |
